We keep on walking by faith….

Throughout June, we traveled to share in the North of Spain the two levels of materials for discipleship encounters: “Disciples of the Way–With Jesus on the way.” What a blessing to start on July 1st our 26th year in His service after 2 ✈️, 5 🚕, 16 🚙, 6 🚍, 20 🛤️, 30 🚇, 3 🚆, 2 🚠, 11 🛏️, 328,276 👣, 12,497 mi/19,995 km, 17 ⛪️, and countless hugs during those 9 weeks of service in Spain. The North of Spain was crossroads to known and new siblings. Most times we traveled on Fridays and returned to Madrid on Mondays. Our first stop was in Calahorra where Mauricio and Ximena, Julián and María, Johnny and Kelly, and the church at large were our hosts. Felipe, as president of the North region for the convention, coordinated the visits. The folks from Logroño and Tudela joined us for the weekend encounters. What a joy to find such a mix of Spanish and Latin American siblings in these churches. We are grateful to the seminary for providing our Madrid headquarters!

Then we revisited our siblings in Basauri; Jesús, Ana, and Lorena. Jesús is the pastor in Mungía and invited us to share about discipleship as well as evangelism in that community. A stop in Bilbao was a must, as well as other historical landmarks nearby, like Gernika and Gaztelugatxe. What a joy to rekindle this connection in the Basque Country with those we had met 15 years ago and remained connected.

Our third weekend was further north in Donostia-San Sebastián with Javi and Ana, Rommel and Karen, Eddy and Victoria. Wow, this international community is vibrant and so committed to serving in their community. We never thought a place could have town, mountains, and beaches within walking distance. This is where we walked the most with our highest in a day of 14,704 steps on that Saturday! We are grateful for their hospitality and love. A great start for our own Camino de Santiago walk… In between Donostia and our last stop at Miranda de Ebro, we spent a couple of days in a place so many travelers go to in the Northwest of Spain: Galicia, an area of the country we had never visited.

Though we arrived on the eve of a holiday, we managed to get on a tour by bus that made landmark stops in Ponte Maceira, Muxia, Finisterre’s lighthouse and town, the waterfall of Ézaro, the hórreo of Carnota, and Muros. In one day we visited these 7 places and got to know more of the culture and beauty of this country. We ended the tour at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela and when we returned to our room, a Puerto Rican pastor and her husband came to visit and pray with us before they returned home the following day. What a very special crossroads so far away from our birthplace!

Our “pesetas” were running out but we still had one more stop: Miranda de Ebro. Each time we traveled to Calahorra, Basauri, and Donostia, the train would travel through this station. On the 7th time, we finally got off the train to make our last official visit. Rafael and Nayara hosted us with their congregation, and we completed this time in Spain that impacted 17 different churches in 9 weeks of service. We are praying and are in anticipation of how God will use the materials He inspired us to share to bless those who are being discipled through them in Spain.

Of course, in between visits, we also enjoyed the company of our Colombian friend who lives in Spain, our travel agent who happened to be in Madrid, and made one last day-roundtrip to Valencia to debrief and plan with the general secretary and the international missions director for future trips and partnership efforts. Lots happens and is enjoyed around the table, like Jesus taught us!

We are already in our new term of 4 years of service and making visits to our network which will hereafter happen each year from July 1st to October 31st. We are grateful to be at His service and yours! We trust God to keep providing for all who already give and to nudge those who will join with financial support toward our 100% personalized goals for the next 4 years as together we continue making disciples in Iberoamerica and the Caribbean!

Se hace camino al andar en fe…

Durante el mes de junio viajamos al norte de España para compartir los dos niveles de materiales para encuentros de discipulado: “Discípulos del Camino–Con Jesús en el camino”. Qué bendición comenzar el 1ro de julio nuestro año 26 a Su servicio después de 2 ✈️, 5 🚕, 16 🚙, 6 🚍, 20 🛤️, 30 🚇, 3 🚆, 2 🚠, 11 🛏️, 328,276 👣, 12,497 mi/19,995 km, 17 ⛪️ e innumerables abrazos durante las 9 semanas que servimos en España. Gracias por acompañarnos en Facebook e Instagram en los episodios de “Caminando los miércoles con el Camino” en las páginas de BGs Et Al…

En el norte de España nos cruzamos con personas conocidas y nuevas. Usualmente viajábamos viernes y regresábamos a Madrid los lunes, a nuestra base en la FT-UEBE que nos acogió con tanto cariño. Nuestra primera parada fue en Calahorra donde Mauricio y Ximena, Julián y María, Johnny y Kelly, junto a la iglesia nos auspiciaron. Felipe, como presidente de la región del norte para la convención, coordinó las visitas. Los de Logroño y Tudela se unieron a los encuentros.

Luego visitamos nuestra familia en Basauri; Jesús, Ana y Lorena. Jesús pastorea en Mungía y nos invitó a compartir de discipulado y evangelismo en la comunidad. Era menester ir a Bilbao, así como a lugares históricos cercanos, tales como Gernika y Gaztelugatxe. Fue una bendición reconectar en el País Vasco con quienes conocimos hace 15 años y nos mantuvimos en contacto.

El tercer fin de semana fue más al norte en Donostia-San Sebastián con Javi y Ana, Rommel y Karen, Eddy y Victoria. Vaya, esta comunidad internacional es vibrante y muy comprometida con el servicio a su comunidad. Nunca pensamos que hubiera un lugar con ciudad, montañas y playas al alcance a pie. Allí fue donde más caminamos con 14,704 pasos aquel sábado. Nuestra gratitud por su hospitalidad y amor. Excelente comienzo para hacer nuestro propio Camino de Santiago… Entre Donostia y nuestra última parada en Miranda de Ebro, pasamos par de días en un lugar en el noroeste de España donde llegan muchos visitantes: Galicia, una zona del país que no habíamos visitado.

Aunque llegamos en vísperas de festivo, conseguimos una excursión en bus con paradas en Ponte Maceira, Muxia, faro y puerto de Fisterra, cascadas de Ézaro, hórreo de Carnota y el puerto de Muros. En un día visitamos estos 7 lugares y conocimos más de la cultura y belleza de este país. Terminamos la excursión en la Catedral de Santiago de Compostela y al regresar al cuarto, una pastora boricua y su esposo nos visitaron y oraron antes de regresar a casa al siguiente día. Qué hermoso cruce de caminos tan lejos de donde nacimos…

Nuestras “pesetas” se acababan pero nos faltaba ir a: Miranda de Ebro. En cada viaje a Calahorra, Basauri y Donostia, el tren pasaba por esta estación. En la 7ma ocasión, finalmente nos bajamos para hacer nuestra última visita oficial. Rafael y Nayara nos auspiciaron con su iglesia y así completamos este tiempo en España donde en 9 semanas de servicio, 17 iglesias diferentes fueron impactadas. Oramos y anticipamos lo que Dios hará con el uso de estos materiales que nos inspiró para compartir y bendecir a Sus discípulas y discípulos en España.

Por supuesto, entre col y col compartimos con una colombiana que vive en España, nuestra agente de viajes que estaba en Madrid y alcanzamos a hacer un viaje expreso ida y regreso a Valencia para planificar y evaluar con el secretario general y la directora de misiones internacionales viajes futuros y esfuerzos colaborativos. Tal como Jesús nos enseñó, mucho se disfruta y se logra alrededor de la mesa…

Entramos a un nuevo término de servicio de 4 años y estamos visitando la red como haremos en adelante, cada año del 1ro de julio al 31 de. Qué bendición seguir a Su servicio y el vuestro. Confiamos que Dios seguirá proveyendo a quienes nos apoyan e inquietará a quienes se unirán para llegar al 100% de nuestro apoyo continuo necesario para juntos hacer discípulos estos 4 años en Iberoamérica y El Caribe.
