In August we resume the discipleship lessons based on the Hebrew alphabet with the letters zayin and ayin. Zayin for zvuv which means fly and ayin for eitz which means tree… Through the following testimony we will focus in ayin-eitz-tree… Laura Erica is one of our heart daughters that the Lord allowed us to meet in the four years we served in Nicaragua and who continues to be a blessing in that country through their discipleship experiences. Laura Erica shares:

“As we walk through the paths of life, we find an array of situations that help us to grow, mature, and develop holistically. These paths are full of harmonious landscapes, with flora, lots of color and full of life. Yet, we also find dry landscapes, lifeless trees, desertic places where life runs and hides.

All humans one way or the other have encountered these desertic paths, where walking is torture, where lack of water burns and kills little by little the human being. These landscapes are hard and full of loneliness. But how refreshing when a sweet sprinkle of dew from the wind wets the soil and the living water that flows from heaven reawakens the dry field: giving hope, giving life, giving flora that turns into a refuge for the sojourner that crawls thirsty seeking for a covering shadow, seeking a refuge for a hurt and thirsty heart.

That is what each encounter with the “Disciples of the Way” was, as they journeyed through Nicaragua; they taught me to live with new hope, to study the Word of God in a simple, new, friendly way, and especially practical which helped me to reawaken as that lush tree that needed the living water to continue growing and developing to the point of offering refuge to others.

This discipleship helped me to grow holistically so that in those desertic paths where distress appears, I would not faint but have the certainty that further up I would find an oasis. That no matter the problem or situation I may be facing today, I must remember that I am not alone, God is with me and when the desert passes, I will reawaken with a more intense green, allowing God to manifest in my life. The study of the Word has prepared me for life and to be light and source of hope to others, sharing that same breath of life with others that need to know the love of God, His truth and His power.”

How encouraging to hear the testimony of those like Laura Erica. Laura continues sharing the original materials of the “Disciples of the Way” that we left and organizes her own groups, like the following one (far left with gray t-shirt):

Laura Erica is part of the 1st cohort of the Master of Theological Studies in Latino/a Ministries with Palmer and is on her second year of studies to continue serving her community:

Laura Erica is part of the panel for the XIII Orlando E. Costas’ Conference to be held on October 14th. We thank God for Laura Erica’s life and the blessing from the Lord to know her and be part of her life and growth. Thanks to your ongoing financial support to our ministry we can continue impacting disciples of the Way like Laura Erica in Iberoamerica and the Caribbean to become lush trees.

Zayin – Ayin…

En agosto retomamos las lecciones de discipulado del alfabeto hebreo con las letras zayin y ayin. Zayin por zvuv que significa mosca y ayin por eitz que significa árbol… A través del siguiente testimonio nos enfocaremos en ayin-eitz-árbol… Laura Erica es una de nuestras hijas del corazón que el Señor nos permitió conocer en los cuatro años que servimos en Nicaragua y quien continúa siendo de bendición en ese país en las experiencias de discipulado. Laura Erica nos dice:

“Al caminar por los senderos de la vida nos encontramos con una gama de situaciones que nos ayudan a crecer, a madurar, a desarrollarnos integralmente. Estos senderos están llenos de paisajes armoniosos, con vegetación, con mucho color y llenos de vida. Pero también, podemos encontrarnos con paisajes secos, arbustos sin vida, escenarios áridos donde la vida huye y se esconde.

Todos los seres humanos de una u otra manera hemos pasado por estos desiertos, donde caminar es tortura, donde la falta de agua quema y mata poco a poco al ser humano. Estos escenarios son duros y llenos de soledad. Pero qué satisfactorio es cuando el dulce rocío de la brisa moja la tierra y el agua viva que emanada del cielo reverdece el campo seco: dando esperanza, dando vida, dando vegetación que se torna refugio para aquel viajero que se arrastra sediento en busca de una sombra acogedora, en busca de un refugio para un corazón herido y sediento.

Justo eso fue cada encuentro de “Discípulos del Camino”, en su trayecto por Nicaragua; me enseñaron a vivir con una nueva esperanza, el estudio de la Palabra de Dios de una forma sencilla, nueva, amigable y ante todo práctica me sirvió para reverdecer como ese árbol frondoso que necesitaba de agua viva para seguir creciendo y desarrollándose a tal punto de servir de refugio para otros.

Este discipulado me ayudó a crecer integralmente. Para que en esos caminos de desiertos y angustia no desmayara sino que tuviera la certeza de que más adelante está el oasis. Que no importa el problema o la situación que esté pasando hoy, recordara que no estoy sola, Dios está conmigo y cuando pase el desierto reverdeceré con un verde más intenso, dejando que Dios se manifieste en mi vida. El estudio de la Palabra me ha preparado para la vida y para ser luz y fuente de esperanza para otros, llevando este mismo aliento de vida a otras personas que necesitan conocer del amor de Dios, de Su verdad y Su poder.”

Cuán alentador escuchar testimonios como el de Laura Erica. Laura sigue compartiendo el material original de “Discípulos del Camino” que dejamos y organiza sus propios grupos, como el que vemos a continuación (a la izquierda en blusa gris):

Laura Erica forma parte del 1er grupo de la Maestría de Estudios Teológicos en Ministerios Latinos/as de Palmer y ya está en su segundo año de estudios para continuar sirviendo en su comunidad:

Laura Erica forma parte del equipo de panelistas de la XIII Conferencia Orlando E. Costas a celebrarse el 14 de octubre. Damos gracias a Dios por la vida de Laura Erica y por la bendición que nos dio el Señor de conocerla y ser parte de su vida y formación. Gracias a tu apoyo económico continuo a nuestro ministerio, podremos impactar más discípulas y discípulos del Camino como Laura Erica en Iberoamérica y El Caribe que serán árboles frondosos.
