Our Sunday School Program has turned into a 7-day a week event!
We have many children’s ministries at HEAL Africa in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo. What started as just one Sunday School with about 200 children has grown as God keeps opening doors!
- Our Sunday School programs (averaging about 850 children every Sunday) have given ‘birth’ to special programs during the week: Leadership training, Teacher training, weekly Bible Study, and of course Christmas, Easter, and Vacation Bible School Special Program
- We also provide classes during the week for children who cannot attend school (because of tuition fees) . Classes include Literacy, English, Computer Science (complete with a computer lab) , Art, Dance, Music Theory, Musical Instruments, and Children’s Choir
- Parents of our Sunday School children wanted to become involved, so we added programs for them. We give parenting classes… there is always a waiting list, even though we have 250 attend per training. There’s also a therapeutic exercise class for parents every Saturday at 6 am. In addition, we have just added a “Village Savings and Loan Program” as an income generating (cottage industry) start up for struggling parents, widows, those who take in orphans, etc. We also offer literacy and English classes for these adults, and they are well attended!
- Our newest program is for homeless children (living on the streets or parks). We call it EBA “Enfants Bien Aimés” (dearly beloved children) who are homeless and vulnerable children in our city. We teach them about Jesus, offer counseling, clothing, shoes, places for safe bathing, food, a place to play … and are building a facility for a day program and emergency shelter…stay tuned.
God is doing great things and we are so thankful for the financial support, for the many volunteers with hearts for service, and for God’s provision and guidance.
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21
