LTBC’S Brief Tribute
As we remember September 22, our hearts bleed with grave sorrow for one who gave himself to serve the Lord faithfully in season and out of season.
The Middle East, Europe, Africa, especially Liberia, yea the Liberia Tribal Baptist Convention’s family will deeply miss you for those moments we shared when you were with us on your visit.
Thanks for your faithful service rendered to humanity, your deep love for God, your encouragements and teachings that impacted lives, your humbleness and smiles worth emulating, great servant of the Most High God, your legacies will forever be remembered
Moreover, we acknowledged your desire of championing that “the will of God be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
Rev. Dr. Charles Henry Jones, Jr. our pastor, our service provider, our musician, our evangelist, our companion, our father and brother, may your journey from the terrestrial to the celestial be welcomed with heaven’s best.
Farewell! We will see you in the morning, when the saints go marching in.

THE LOTT CAREY BAPTIST MISSION SCHOOL FAMILY JOYFULLY MOURN THE PASSING OF THE REV. CHARLES H. ANKAPANIA JONES, JR. WHO HAS GOTTEN HIS WINGS. REV JONES DEVOTED HIS LIFE TO GUIDING OTHERS WITH HUMILITY, WISDOM, KINDNESS, DEDICATION, FAITH, AND TRANSFORMATIVE IMPACT ON LIVES HE TOUCHED. HE LEAVES AN INDELIBLE MARK. HE WAS A LEADER, MENTOR, COMPASIONATE FRIEND, ENABLER, GENEROUS, AND LOVING. WE PRAY FOR THE PEACEFUL REPOSE OF HIS SOUL, AND THAT OUR LORD WILL SURROUND HIS FAMILY WITH GRACE, LOVE, PEACE, COMFORT AND SOLACE DURING THIS SEASON OF LOSS.
Thanks and blessings,
Emile
Today, we pay tribute to the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Charles H. Jones, a faithful servant of God, a compassionate leader, and a man who loved God’s people.
As Area Director for Europe, the Middle East, and Liberia for American Baptist Churches International Ministries, Dr. Jones demonstrated a deep commitment to the work of God and to the people of Liberia. He stood with the Liberia Direct Baptist Missionary Conference through challenging seasons, including various pandemics. He supported students, helped advance educational opportunities, and contributed to the construction of the D. R. Horton Baptist Center, the headquarters of the LDBMC through funding from the International Ministries, American Baptist Churches.
Dr. Jones was more than a leader; he was a servant whose life reflected his love for Christ and his desire to make a difference in the lives of others. His kindness, dedication, and faithful service have left a lasting mark on the church and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
On Tuesday, September 22, 2026, Dr. Jones answered the call from labor to reward and entered the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Though we mourn his departure, we rejoice in the assurance that he is now resting in the presence of the One he faithfully served.
I can almost hear him declaring to the heavenly host, “I HAVE A SONG,” giving glory to God and honoring his beloved wife, Maima, and their precious family. His testimony remains clear: “JESUS IS EVERYTHING TO ME.” The first chapter of the book, “I HAVE A SONG.”
As he joins the heavenly host, including Rev. Dr. Daniel Richard Horton and Ora Horton, we can imagine them lifting their voices together in praise:
“More about Jesus would I know,
More of His grace to others show,
More of His saving fullness see,
More of His love who died for me.”
Dr. Charles H. Jones, your earthly journey is complete, but your testimony, your service, and your legacy will live on in the hearts of those you touched, including me.
Rest on, faithful servant, until we meet again at Jesus’ feet.
Well done, good and faithful servant.
Rest in peace. Amen.
