The Promise of Hope
We were delighted to see this beautiful rainbow over the city of Debrecen. It was a moment in which we could somehow see the hope of Christ shining through the darkness. A rainbow always reminds us of God’s promise. After the flood, God gave a visible sign of His promise. Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood. The rainbow is a symbol of God’s love for humanity and hope for a new day.
This promise is most evident in Jesus. The presence of Christ has the ability to transform the darkest moments of life into beautiful pictures of hope. We continue to be encouraged by the way Christ is at work here in Hungary. The Christian community works together and supports local mission projects. English camps this summer brought students who were curious about the message of Jesus. Church members reached out to a community music festival with the message of hope that can only be found in Christ.
We are thankful that so many people are searching for this hope. Please pray that we will be effective communicators of the good news. Next month Amanda begins teaching at the Talentum Elementary School. She will be co-teaching English to the first class of students. Jon focuses on outreach and evangelism. He is working with the local church in church planting efforts. The Good kids will be working hard to learn science, math, and history in the Hungarian language. Please pray that they have a good school year and are able to share the love of Christ with their classmates.
Thank you for your prayers and financial support! You are an essential part of the mission here in Hungary. We praise the Lord for you and your partnership. The words of Ephesians 1:15-16 express how we feel. “For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.”
Yours in Christ,
Jon and Amanda
