GoalThe goal of this project is to prevent human trafficking and protect survivors.
SummaryThis project seeks to raise $70,000 for the first year to provide shelter for survivors of trauma and educate and train people to eliminate risk factors of human trafficking.
DescriptionUnderprivileged and displaced children and adults in the Mekong Subregion are at an increased risk of exploitation due to numerous factors, including the flooding in northern Thailand in 2024. Ethnic minority and migrant populations from neighboring countries are particularly vulnerable to human trafficking due to poverty, systemic racial bias, insufficient education, lack of Thai language fluency, and lack of citizenship status. Recent trends have seen a proliferation of human trafficking in the region because of fraudulent call centers and social media.
These issues are of urgent concern, and a multi-pronged approach is necessary to strengthen community resources and disrupt cycles of exploitation. The New Life Center Foundation (NLCF) partners with public and private agencies, government agencies, grassroots community leaders, schools, churches, and families to eliminate risk factors, protect children, and build thriving communities.
This project will prevent human trafficking and protect survivors of sexual abuse, domestic violence, and human trafficking. Support is urgently needed so that the NLCF can provide shelter for survivors of trauma and provide education and training.
This project will benefit at least 1,500 people, including family members, community leaders, and churches.
The total project cost is $200,000 over 3 years, with $70,000 needed in the first year and $65,000 in the second and third years.
Suggested GiftsA gift of $500 will provide 1 life skills workshop for the NLCF residents.
A gift of $1,000 will pay for 4 months of electricity at the NLFC residence.
A gift of $5,000 will cover the cost of repainting the NLCF offices damaged by flooding.
