Come and See/Vengan a Ver

Isaiah 55.1-2

1 Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.

2 Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.

As we begin the time of Advent I am drawn to this text of invitation. Like a merchant selling his wares, we are invited to come and partake ‘what is good’ and satisfies, to participate in a wonderful feast. Sometimes I ask myself how do I make theological education exciting? Like this merchant and the prophet Isaiah I want to invite all of you to see how our students’ lives are transformed as they strive to be better prepared to serve.

Our students come from a rich diversity of countries and circumstances. One of our students came after she lost her husband to Covid. She now has a community of fellow students that support her as she fulfills her call. Many others that have graduated are now teaching at other seminaries as well as serving in their own ministries. Others are serving as pastors and ministering with migrants. Each of them is serving within the boundaries of their own context with different challenges. Be it in Nicaragua, Ecuador, El Salvador, Cuba, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the United States, etc, each person is responding to those challenges with the gifts/learnings they have received in their studies.

You as our partners through International Ministries provide financial support so that they can participate in this master’s in theological education. You also provide the means so that this global servant can serve as a professor, a mentor, and together with a team of other global servants be used by God to transform this world through this educational initiative.

Leaders are being prepared to serve not only in their local countries; I believe that God is preparing them to transform the world through the good news of the gospel. You can be a part of this wonderful ministry. Will you consider joining those that are supporting this ministry through monthly support. I need ten commitments of $50 monthly or five commitments of $100 dollars monthly or the amount that God has placed on your heart. «1 ¡Vengan a las aguas, todos los que tengan sed! ¡Vengan a comprar y a comer los que no tengan dinero! Vengan, compren vino y leche sin pago alguno.

2 ¿Por qué gastan dinero en lo que no es pan y su salario en lo que no satisface? Escúchenme bien: comerán lo que es bueno y se deleitarán con manjares deliciosos.

Al comenzar el tiempo de Adviento, me siento atraído por este texto de invitación.

Isaías 55:1-2 NVI

Como un mercader que vende sus mercancías, se nos invita a venir y participar de “lo que es bueno” y satisface, a participar de un banquete maravilloso. A veces me pregunto cómo hacer que la educación teológica sea llamativa e interesante. Como este mercader y el profeta Isaías, quiero invitarles a ver cómo se transforman las vidas de nuestros estudiantes cuando se esfuerzan por estar mejor preparados para servir.

Nuestros estudiantes llegan de diversos contextos y circunstancias. Una de nuestras estudiantes vino después de haber perdido a su esposo a Covid. Ahora tiene una comunidad de colegas que la apoyan en el cumplimiento de su llamado. Muchos otros están enseñando en otros seminarios, así como sirviendo en sus propios ministerios. Otros son pastores y trabajan con inmigrantes. Cada uno de ellos está sirviendo dentro de los límites de su propio contexto con diferentes desafíos. Ya sea en Nicaragua, Ecuador, El Salvador, México, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Estados Unidos, etc., cada persona está respondiendo a esos desafíos con los dones/aprendizajes que han recibido a través de sus estudios.

Ustedes como nuestros socios a través de Ministerios Internacionales proveen apoyo financiero para que ellos puedan participar en esta maestría en educación teológica. Ustedes también proveen los medios para que esta sierva global pueda servir como profesora, mentora, y junto con un equipo de otros siervos globales ser usados por Dios para transformar este mundo a través de esta iniciativa educativa.

Estos líderes están siendo preparados para servir no sólo en sus países locales; creo que Dios los está preparando para transformar el mundo a través de las buenas nuevas del evangelio. Usted puede ser parte de este maravilloso ministerio. Considere la posibilidad de unirse a los que están apoyando este ministerio a través de un aporte mensual.
