GoalThe goal of this project is to provide 100 scholarships for the poorest children in Tijuana, Mexico who otherwise receive a poor education or none at all.
SummaryThis project seeks to raise $353 per student for up to 100 students annually.
DescriptionIn Tijuana, children who live in poverty and with special needs often have no access to a good education. With the help of STEP, the Student Tuition Expense Program, many of these vulnerable children will be able to attend school. The Centro Pedagogico Didaque, is an excellent Baptist grade school in Tijuana that has a strong program for children with special needs. Given the opportunity to receive a strong elementary education, most of the children are able to continue on to middle and high school. These students learn to the best of their ability and develop their gifts and talents to share in their community. Most of the children become confident, productive young adults. A $353 STEP scholarship provides tuition support for a student to attend school. These scholarships not only provide an education, but the inclusion of special needs children with their peers enriches the experience for everyone. The students learn compassion through daily interactions as they also grow in knowledge. The project total cost is $105,883 for three years, or $35,294 per year.
Suggested Gifts$353 per student provides the needed supplies and teaching support for their educational development. $1,059 will provide 3 STEP scholarships. $3,520 will provide STEP scholarships for 10 students. $8,824 will provide STEP scholarships for 25 students.
Prayer RequestsPray that STEP scholarships will help some older children who have never gone to school, usually because they have been working or caring for their younger siblings.
