Did you know that Reformation Day is a holiday for Protestant churches in many parts of Europe? We haven’t seen candy corn nor pumpkins in churches; instead, Christians celebrate with community worship services. This celebration commemorates when Martin Luther nailed what is known as the Ninety-Five Theses on the doors of the church in Wittenberg, Germany in 1517. This event was the start of world-wide religious and social change.

Jesus was and is at work changing the world. This past Sunday our church came together with other churches in Florence for a combined worship service. The joyful nature of spiritual transformation in our gathering was contagious. We can see evidence of Christ’s work in the lives of many people here. One of our friends shares how, when she was a Muslim, the Lord came to her in a dream and revealed his presence! After this, she risked losing her family and friends so that she could follow Jesus. She believed Jesus was worth the risk. Today, she is a leader in our church and most of her family have also put their faith in Jesus.

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve here in Italy. This first year, it is our joy to focus on learning Italian language and culture, and getting to know our Italian partners. Please continue to pray for the outreach of the Baptist church in Florence. Currently, there are two emerging house churches. We are excited to see how God will grow these small groups in maturity and in number.

Please also pray:

Thank you for your continued prayer and financial support. We praise the Lord for your partnership in gospel!
