Tim and Kathy are associate missionaries jointly appointed by both International Ministries and New City Fellowship in St. Louis to serve as medical missionaries at the Vanga Evangelical Hospital in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The Rice's vision is to train the next generation of Congolese doctors and nurses in Christ-centered, whole-person care, empowering them to use the limited resources available to restore life and health across the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Their desire is to facilitate worldwide partnerships, enabling health professionals to participate in mutual exchange of expertise at the Vanga Evangelical Hospital and elsewhere in the world.

They write: Feeling sapped of energy both physical, emotional and spiritual is a constant battle.  We frequently remind each other that we are cooperating with God and His work.  So the strength we have is evidently the amount needed to complete the tasks God wants us to complete.  And as we look back at the unfinished tasks, we trust that God knows and will use those as part of His plan.

Pray for our financial support.  At a time of increased requests for financial assistance from patients and infrastructure improvements at the hospital, we have seen a dropping off of donations.  God knows.  Ask God to provide exactly what we need.

Pray that we for complete this time before returning home well.  We will be making our yearly visit to America so I (Tim) can work at Cardinal Glennon for a month.  This will also be a much needed break from the constant stress and demands as Kathy leads the nursing school and I lead the hospital through several major transitions.  1. Improved quality of care.  2. Improved financial transparency.  3. Maintenance and improvement projects of the hospital physical plant.

Pray for the nursing school.  This is finals week and the students and teachers struggle with this time of individual assessment in a culture where collaboration is very important.

Pray for the hospital leadership.  This week we install the new administrative director of the hospital.  We also need the team filling in during our absence to continue to move the hospital in positive directions.
