Pray
Posted on October 17, 2018 Pray for Kristy Engel, IM’s Global Consultant with a focus on health care issues.

Kristy is trained as a pediatric nurse practitioner and holds a Master’s Certificate in international nutrition. Kristy served for 12 years in the Dominican Republic, leading mobile medical clinics and International Ministries relief efforts following the 2010 Haiti earthquake. As a global consultant, Kristy is able to visit countries in need of health assessments, ongoing education, health team visits or other forms of collaboration during crisis and non-crisis situations. Her goals are to empower local leaders, to help communities recognize their strengths and understand how to make better use of their resources and to build relationships that increase the health of populations around the world through innovation, networking and encouragement.

Kristy writes – I am several weeks into my travels during this World Mission Offering season for International Ministries and I am feeling very blessed. Churches and individuals are sharing their love with me for my ministry and the global work of International Ministries. They are excited to learn about Assets-Based Community Development and how to change their models of outreach so that it empowers communities and honors those who serve. …

Fall is full of travel, trainings and relationship building. I’ve been on the road since almost June without many free days and will be continuing to travel both in the US and overseas until about March, unless a few trips are cancelled!

This June I returned to Cochabamba, Bolivia and the House of Hope to continue working with their ministries as well as support my home church, Parkway Baptist in Duluth, GA. …

July was full of writing the training materials for the Community Based Response to Health 6-day training that I would use for the first time in August at Crossroads Church in Denver. I had a quick vacation with my sister and her family and then I was off to Central Seminary in Kansas City for Dan and Sharon Buttry’s TCTT intensive 10-day training on Conflict Transformation. One day later, I began teaching my own training for two consecutive weekends in Colorado. … For the rest of September, I will be visiting churches, donors and others throughout Missouri, Iowa and Illinois. Following this whirlwind of US travel, I’ll head to Lebanon and then Bangladesh where I’ll continue to build relationships with our partners overseas and learn about opportunities for continued healthcare programs. In Bangladesh, I’ll meet up with colleagues, Walt and Jeanine White.

November is another time for conferences in the US. I’ll be speaking at the Regional Youth Event (RYE) in the MidAmerica Region, followed by the regional pastors meeting. The Global Missions Health Conference in Louisville, KY is just after these two events and then I’ll have a chance to meet with Campbellsville University before returning to Atlanta.

The most exciting thing about all of this is how diverse and widespread the work is! Around the world …youth …adults …conferences …churches …universities…God just continues to build and expand the work that I’m involved with and you are a part of this! …
