Joyce and David serve as regional missionaries with partner Baptist conventions in Iberoamerica and the Caribbean. Their ministry focus is spiritual renewal, spiritual formation and vocational calling. This regional ministry is rooted in the concern that Christians around the world have become a very busy people who have lost sight of the movement of the Spirit. Its goal is to draw people into a deeper experience with God through spiritual disciplines such as stillness, listening, prayer, creative worship and spiritual companionship.
To do this, Joyce and David offer retreats at which pastors and leaders can find rest, renewal and resources for self-care. They develop curriculums for spiritual formation courses to be taught in theological schools. They also mentor young people who sense a call to ministry. The Reeds served from 1999–2014 in Baja California Sur, Mexico, where they worked with the local Mexican Baptist Convention to start new churches, develop a theological education program and host mission teams from the United States.
They write – Prayer requests for us:
Our international cohort of students from Mexico City, the first group of students to begin the Masters of Theological Studies program 2 years ago, is entering their final class! It’s an independent study. All the faculty are advising 1-2 students. Pray for focus, perseverance, and joy during these last weeks of study. They are having a graduation ceremony at the end of September in Mexico City. We are so proud of them!
