How have we adapted to new and newer systems?
March 2020 pushed many of us to create new home office spaces, learn to quickly adapt to new ways of communicating while trying our very best to keep our loved ones safe and healthy. A time for intentional stillness and discernment needed to happen. New physical adjustments had to be made.
June 2020 opened doors to traveling within the comfort of home. Being able to visit colleagues who minister cross-culturally started with 60 to 90 minutes of virtual ministry experiences. Those quickly grew to virtual Mission Express immersions lasting up to 5 days. Again, without packing bags, TSA carry-on screenings, nor visa applications. Entering newer emotional spheres with patience and perseverance was adopted.
September 2020 catapulted our steps of faith into the broadcasting world of podcasting. Bridges for Mission (B4M) was launched! We stepped out in faith, knowing that we could reach more listeners, and hearts by sharing stories of evangelism and discipleship happening in the world of short-term mission. Serious spiritual leaps of faith were taken.
Adapting to new and newer systems of thinking and outreach have been the driving force for the team at the Short-Term Mission desk. God’s mission has not stopped being alive globally. The scripture passage in Hebrews 4:12-13 “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword…Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight” affirmed many virtual experiences we sponsored, organized and facilitated since June 2020. We lived transformation as our hearts connected across zoom rooms. We embraced and pioneered newer ways of connecting volunteers to partners’ needs.
The best newer mindset we welcomed, has been to stop putting God in a box, by saying “let’s think outside the box.” Since creation of time God revealed how limitless God is. There are no boxes to speak of, nor lines to cross, but only possibilities to meet God where God is already at work. We invite you to join us as we celebrate new and newer approaches to engage, be present, connect, disciple, prepare, collaborate with congregations and volunteers who are eager to serve cross-culturally.
