Recognition in the Luther Rice Society

Thank you to our Luther Rice Society donors and churches for your generosity! You represent the top 20 percent of giving to International Ministries (IM). We welcome our new and returning donors to begin a new year in world mission. IM started the Luther Rice Society in 2001 to encourage the support of global mission. Today the Luther Rice Society honors and recognizes those whose leadership in giving is a powerful example for many others.

WHO WAS LUTHER RICE?

The Luther Rice Society is named after Luther Rice (1783-1836), whose essential work with William and Maria Staughton and others led to the organization of the first national Baptist society in the United States to support the work of our first missionaries in Burma, Ann and Adoniram Judson. Luther Rice dedicated the rest of his life to promote and grow the financial support needed to sustain missionaries in their countries of service; this is the legacy you carry on through your generosity.

WHY IS THE LUTHER RICE SOCIETY IMPORTANT?

Through the Luther Rice Society, International Ministries recognizes leadership in annual giving. Lead gifts given by those in the Luther Rice Society are a major source of encouragement for others and often support new or expanded programs and ministries.

WHAT GIVING IS RECOGNIZED BY THE LUTHER RICE SOCIETY?

Donors and donor churches are recognized as part of the Luther Rice Society for one year whose gifts to International Ministries total $5,000 or more in a calendar year. Each year you have the opportunity to renew your giving at the Luther Rice Society level.  All types of giving to IM are included, whether support for IM’s global servants, the general fund, or projects. If your gift is sent through another nonprofit we may not have a record of your generosity to include you in this recognition.

HOW DOES THE LUTHER RICE SOCIETY RECOGNIZE SUPPORTERS?

You receive a welcome letter each year that you renew your giving at the Luther Rice Society level. As part of the Luther Rice Society, you will receive personalized communications and Luther Rice Society mailings, including the IM annual report and biennial Guide to Global Servants book. You will access opportunities reserved only for those in the Luther Rice Society, with an invitation to select Luther Rice Society special events as a guest of IM’s Executive Director/CEO Rev. Sharon Koh.

YOUR PARTICIPATION CAN MAKE IM’S MINISTRY PRIORITIES A REALITY

Since 1814, we have responded to God’s call to engage in international mission. God is doing life-changing work through your prayers and financial support in these ministry priority areas:

  • Invite people to become disciples of Christ through evangelism, discipleship, and theological education.
  • Proclaim God’s reign of peace, justice, and abundant life by serving the needs of immigrants and refugees, abolishing global slavery, encouraging education and economic development, and promoting health.
  • Equip the body of Christ to minister everywhere, engage in short-term mission, involve youth and young adults, and build capacity through training.
  • Pursue excellence through financial accountability and faithful stewardship of the gifts you entrust to IM

Thank you for making a difference in Christian mission! You can connect with an IM donor advisor about recognition for you or your church in the Luther Rice Society: imdonorservices@internationalministries.org or 610-768-2168.
