A 18 años de aquel 4 de agosto del 2000 y a 30 años de habernos conocido en aquel 27 de julio del 1988 en Bogotá, estamos listos para mudarnos a Colombia. Ya tenemos luz verde para ir a ser sal y unirnos a la acción en esta cuarta asignación nuestra con ABFMS (por sus siglas en inglés). Hubiéramos deseado habernos establecido en Cartagena el mes pasado, para comenzar del 1-4 de agosto de este año con el quinquenal de la UFBAL (Unión Femenil Bautista de América Latina), pero por causas de fuerza mayor, todavía hay algunos encargos que debemos atender antes de irnos. Confiamos estar en Cartagena para la segunda quincena de septiembre, Dios mediante.

Vamos rondamos el 90% de apoyo financiero comprometido por lo que estamos sumamente felices y agradecidos por todo el amor de las iglesias y hermandad en nuestra red. Así como Dios ha provisto sabemos que Dios proveerá el 10% restante a través de personas como tú. Así podremos ser luces y sal en Colombia. Mientras tanto, gracias a la Ofrenda Misionera Mundial (OMM), podemos encaminarnos a Colombia por fe de que personas e iglesias se comprometerán a suplir el 10% que está pendiente. Mientras más pronto completemos el 100% de apoyo financiero comprometido, más pronto se liberan esos recursos de OMM para otras áreas de necesidad.

El tema de este año para la OMM se deriva de Mateo 5.13: “Ustedes son la sal de la tierra.” Apoyarnos en obediencia al llamado de Dios es una de las maneras en que cumples tu propio llamado a la misión de Dios para ser sal de la tierra; poniendo tus propios granitos de sal en la tierra… En Colombia nos esperan la UNIBAUTISTA, los grupos indígenas que acompañaremos en discipulado y un gran equipo local de la Conferencia Global Bautista por la Paz. Seguimos rogando al Señor que provea los recursos necesarios para nuestro ministerio en Colombia siendo sal doquiera vayamos.

Pronto viviremos separaciones físicas necesarias… Alberto se va a Kentucky para comenzar sus estudios graduados en Asbury Theological Seminary. Carolina se queda en Pennsylvania para comenzar su bachillerato en Eastern University. Daniela seguirá sus estudios en el hogar (9no) en Colombia junto a Carlos, Mayra y Güeli Hilda (la mamá de Mayra). Los 6, estemos donde estemos, apreciamos tu amor, entusiasmo y apoyo continuo. Cada oración, cada comunicación y cada ofrenda cuenta y es apreciada.

No se hable más. ¡Luces! ¡Sal! ¡Acción! Hechos en Acción—BGs Et Al en camino a Colombia, contigo y de la mano del Mesías para lo que a Él le plazca. Ve ahorrando para que nos acompañes cuando estemos instalados. Es Su misión, tu misión, nuestra misión: ustedes son la sal de la tierra…

18 years since that August 4th, 2000 and 30 years since we met on that July 27th, 1988, in Bogotá, we are ready to move to Colombia. We have green light to go be salt and join the action in this our fourth assignment with ABFMS. We wish we had moved to Cartagena last month, to be ready and start off with the quinquennial of the Baptist Women Union of Latin America on August 1-4, but due to circumstances beyond our control, we still have a few lose ends to tie before moving. We trust to be in Cartagena by the second half of September, God willing.

We are rounding the 90% of support pledged for which we are very glad and grateful for the love and care of our churches and siblings in our network. As God has provided, we know He will provide the remaining 10% through siblings like you. That is how we can be light and salt in Colombia. Meanwhile, thanks to the World Mission Offering (WMO), we can prepare by faith to be enroute to Colombia trusting that siblings and churches will commit to provide the remaining 10%. The sooner we reach 100% support pledged, the sooner those WMO resources are freed for other areas of need.

This year’s WMO theme is based on Matthew 5.13: “You are the salt of the earth.” To support our obedience to God’s call is one of the ways you fulfill your own call to God’s mission to be salt of the earth; putting your own grains of salt to the earth… In Colombia, the UNIBAUTISTA, the indigenous groups we’ll accompany in discipleship, and the wonderful local team for the Global Baptist Peace Conference are awaiting for us. We keep praying to the Lord that He provides the needed resources for our ministry in Colombia to be salt wherever we go.

There are necessary physical separations around the corner… Alberto goes to Kentucky to begin grad school at Asbury Theological Seminary. Carolina stays in Pennsylvania to begin her bachelor’s degree at Eastern University. Daniela will continue her homeschooling (9th grader) in Colombia with Carlos, Mayra, and Grandma Hilda (Mayra’s mom). All 6 of us, wherever we are, appreciate your love, enthusiasm, and ongoing support. Each prayer, each note, and each gift counts and is appreciated.
