Mourns the Passing of Global Servant Rev. Madeline Flores-López

With great sadness, International Ministries (IM) shares news of the unexpected passing of Global Servant Rev. Madeline Flores-López early on Monday, December 18, 2023, following a brief illness. Rev. Flores-López, a long-time global servant from Puerto Rico, was in the Dominican Republic where she served for twenty-two years.

Madeline was an exceptional mission coordinator who facilitated service opportunities for thousands of volunteers from the United States and Puerto Rico. She helped them grow in their faith while empowering them to make a positive impact in the world. Madeline was also committed to serving the severely impoverished batey communities in the Dominican Republic, which are villages of sugar workers. She spent most of her ministry in these communities, where she brought hope and joy to countless families. The day before her passing, Madeline visited several bateyes, distributing gifts to families to celebrate the joy of Christmas.

IM gives thanks to God for the life of Madeline, our sister, friend, and colleague. The IM family is encouraged to pray for comfort for her family and friends during this difficult time and to honor the life of this great servant of the Lord. We remember Madeline through the words of Matthew 25:23, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!”

IM is providing care and support to Madeline’s family, close friends, and associates. More information will be shared as it becomes available.

Dear friend of Madeline Florez-López,

Greetings in the name of our Risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The truth that Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life is the hope we cling to in times of great loss. The sudden death of Madeline Flores-López on Monday, December 18, 2023, was a time of great loss for us all.

As an IM Global Servant, Madeline was known for her strength in lifting up and loving those in need. She was persistent and worked very hard to serve others. The day before her passing, she visited with those she cared for in the bateyes of the Dominican Republic. Many short-term volunteer teams speak of how their lives have been transformed for Jesus because of time spent serving with Madeline.

International Ministries would like to express deep appreciation to the Baptist Churches of Puerto Rico [Igelsias Bautistas de Puerto Rico] (IBPR), churches, and individuals who supported Madeline’s ministry. Your investment was well made in the purposes of the Kingdom of God. I want to assure you that gifts received recently, or those already on the way, will be applied to a few remaining expenses of her ministry. Gifts received will also go towards the expenses of the return to home in Puerto Rico and the celebrations of her life. Our trusted partners in the leadership of IBPR will determine how to reallocate the World Mission Offering contributions from Puerto Rico.

To keep Madeline’s legacy going, we would appreciate it if you could please consider redirecting your support to the other global servants from Puerto Rico: Mercy Gonzáles-Barnes; Carlos Bonilla and Mayra Giovanetti; Deliris and Moise Carrión-Joseph; Ricardo Mayol-Bracero; and Ketly and Vital Pierre. You may also wish to redirect your support to the other global servants who are serving in the Dominican Republic. They are Brian and Lynette Smith, Ketly and Vital Pierre, Stacy and Tim Reese, and Nzunga Mabudiga and Kihomi Ngwemi. To redirect your support, please contact us at 610-768-2323 or at imdonorservices@internationalministries.org.

Madeline was a wonderful ambassador for all things Puerto Rico. She was an outstanding representative for International Ministries, and she was an extraordinary global servant for our Lord Jesus Christ. We deeply appreciate your vital partnership with Madeline, IBPR, and International Ministries and appreciate your continued faithful partnership, which will serve as a legacy for Madeline’s ministry going forward for the people she loved and cared for.

Rejoice with us that Madeline has now heard, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” (Matthew 25:23).

God be with you,
