GoalThe goal of this project is to provide three students in India with a nursing education.
SummaryThis project seeks to raise $15,750 to provide three students in Northeast India’s Tea Garden with a nursing education.
DescriptionThe state of Assam is nestled in Northeast India, the “Tea Garden” area. The level of education available to day laborers is very low and the economic condition of the people is insufficient for their needs. The nursing school program in the capital city of Guwahati is 3½-year diploma program in General Nursing and Midwifery. The total cost one student scholarship in the program is 210,000 rupees, or about $5,250 U.S. dollars—a fortune for tea laborers. The Assam Baptist Convention will cover this cost, which includes housing and tuition, and students’ families will pay for their meals. The convention wants to assist one young man and two young women. This project will be managed by the General Secretary of the Assam Baptist Convention R. K. Raychawdhuri.
Suggested Gifts$500 pays for four months of nursing school. $1500 pays for a year for one student.
Prayer RequestsPray that a nursing education will assist not only the student but their family in improving their quality of life.
