A School Where Every Child Belongs

Dear Friends,

Sometimes God reveals His Kingdom in unexpected places.

This spring, Jessica, an International Ministries’ volunteer at Didaqué School in Tijuana shared a story that has stayed with me.

As a special education teacher, Jessica pays close attention to how children treat one another. During lunch and recess, she watched students race onto the playground, gather with friends, and begin their favorite games. But what caught her attention wasn’t the soccer game or the laughter.

It was the children who made sure everyone was included.

Without being asked, students invited classmates with special needs to join their games of soccer, tag, and hide-and-seek. They adjusted the game when necessary. They encouraged one another. They made room for everyone.

For Jessica, it was a beautiful reminder that the love of Christ is not only taught at Didaqué—it is being lived out every day.

As I read her words, I couldn’t help but think of Jesus’ instruction to welcome the little children and His constant concern for those who were often overlooked or left behind.

That is exactly what is happening at Didaqué.

This school serves children and families in one of the poorest areas of Tijuana. Through your support, children receive an excellent education, daily nutritious meals, school uniforms, books, and scholarships that make attendance possible. More importantly, they are welcomed into a community where they are known, valued, and loved.

This year, we also saw God use school events as opportunities for evangelism. During the Christmas concert, families gathered to watch their children sing. Director Alberto shared the message of Christ with those in attendance, and afterward families remained together sharing a meal and strengthening relationships. What began as a school event became an opportunity for the Gospel to be proclaimed.

These moments remind me that Christian education is about far more than academics. It is about shaping hearts, building community, and helping children discover their God-given worth.

As one school year comes to a close, preparations are already underway for the next. Families continue to need scholarships. Children will need uniforms and books. Meals will need to be prepared. Teachers will continue investing in the lives of students each day.

If you don’t already give, would you prayerfully consider helping this vital ministry?

Your support through the STEP Scholarship Project, Hot Meals Project, and Uniforms & Books Project helps ensure that children can return to school at the end of the summer ready to learn, grow, and experience the love of Christ.
