November: We are grateful for some firsts we have experienced in these 17 years of ministries with the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society. Through our visits to our expanding network of churches and siblings and by serving in different countries, our kids have had many firsts, such as but not limited to:

Learning water sports in Rhode Island, golfing in Indiana, and scavenger hunting in New Jersey… Making custard in Vermont, driving a Mule in West Virginia and Pennsylvania, and making a pen in Ohio… Crawling up the steps and fishing in Rhode Island, driving a four-wheeler in New York, and fusing glass in Wisconsin… They have learned the value of “juntes” and “family” (biological and spiritual) in Puerto Rico. Our daughters learned to talk in Chile. One of them learned to roller skate in Spain. They learned to guide themselves by landmarks in Nicaragua.

These are just a few of the firsts our Missionary Kids (MKs) have learned by simply becoming family to our network siblings in the US/PR and where we have served. There are many more. They learn geography as we travel, social studies as we interact, and languages from the different places where we serve… Most of all, they learn with us how important it is to obey God and trust Him day by day.

So, we share gratitude first for these many firsts through our years of missionary service and our US/PR assignment visits. Most of all, we thank God for His love and salvation that we share with those around us. Thanks for the firsts that lie ahead as we move into a new assignment trusting Him for His ongoing support and the adventures ahead of us! What are you grateful for?

Noviembre: Estamos agradecidos por muchas primicias en estos 17 años de servicio a través de Ministerios Internacionales de las Iglesias Bautistas Americanas en Estados Unidos y Puerto Rico. Al visitar las iglesias y amistades, nuestra prole ha vivido primicias como las siguientes:

Deportes acuáticos en Rhode Island, golf en Indiana y búsqueda de tesoros en New Jersey… Cocinar flan en Vermont, manejar una Mule en West Virginia y Pennsylvania y hacer un bolígrafo en Ohio… Gatear escaleras y pescar en Rhode Island, manejar motos de cuatro ruedas en New York, y crear artesanía en vidrio en Wisconsin… Aprendieron el valor de los “juntes” y la familia (biológica y espiritual) en Puerto Rico. Nuestras hijas aprendieron a hablar en Chile. Una aprendió a patinar en España. Los tres aprendieron a ubicarse por claves en los lugares en Nicaragua.

Estas son algunas de las primicias que nuestra Prole Misionera (MKs por sus siglas en inglés) ha aprendido simplemente por ser familia de nuestra red en EEUU/PR y donde servimos. Hay muchas más. Han aprendido geografía en los viajes, estudios sociales interactuando e idiomas en los lugares que servimos… Sobretodo, han aprendido cuán importante es obedecer a Dios y confiar en Él para nuestro diario vivir.

Así que, compartimos la gratitud primero por estas primicias a través de años de servicio misionero y visitas en EE.UU. y Puerto Rico. Más importante que todo, damos gracias a Dios por Su amor y salvación que compartimos con quienes nos rodean. Gracias por las primicias que nos esperan en nuestra nueva asignación, confiando en Él y Su provision y las aventuras que estamos por experimentar… ¿Por qué das gracias?
