“Look among the nations, and see; wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told.” Habakkuk 1:5

One of the amazing things about the mission of God is that he is always ahead of us. He is there even before we think of it. All we can do is be faithful witnesses and wait on our beautiful God, whose ways of acting are way more creative than ours.

As we found ourselves sharing the gospel, it has been a humbling experience to see how Jesus uses what and whom he wants. Who are we to judge God’s ways?

We would like to share with you the story of Natalia. Natalia is a lady from Guinea-Bissau; she occasionally came to our ladies’ meetings but made it clear that she did not believe in

God the way we do. One day, she showed up at church and said she wanted to be baptised because she had given her life to Jesus. She was at home and heard a preacher talking about Jesus on TV, and she understood the plan of salvation. At the time, she had been with her partner for 21 years, and they were not married. Her husband is Muslim. She told him, “I want to be legally married because I found Jesus, and from now on, I want to do things that please Jesus, starting with my marriage and my baptism.” She was baptised, and she is a faithful servant of God. Now, her husband occasionally comes to church.

Natalia expressed that having a Portuguese-speaking congregation at her doorstep was the proof of God’s provision and care for those who would not have the chance to hear about Jesus in their own country of birth.
