Recognizing that International Ministries (IM) is a global non-profit with a diverse and multicultural constituency, the Marketing and Communications Director is responsible for the planning and implementation of IM’s marketing strategies, which include all website, social media, and written publications. This person works to ensure that branding, messaging, and delivery of all marketing and communications are consistent with the missiology, values, and mission of International Ministries.
Responsibilities
Protects and grows IM’s brand usage and recognizability in all marketing and communication efforts.
- Coordinate the appearance of all print and electronic materials to the IM style guide. Ensure that the organization’s philosophy, missiology, and vision are communicated effectively internally and externally, with an intentional sensitivity and appeal towards our diverse and multicultural constituency.
- Develop and implement an interactive communication strategy and campaigns to oversee brand communication across multiple social media channels.
- Assist with program launches when necessary, including implementing paid advertising, SEO (Search Engine Optimization), etc.
Collaboratively develops IM communication strategies and directs the editorial and creative direction and distribution of IM’s marketing and communication efforts.
- Coordinates efforts so that stories are effectively communicated, constituents are equipped and inspired to participate in IM’s mission, and constituents not yet engaged are invited to become a part of IM’s work in the world.
- Manage content creation and ensure alignment and consistent missiology, theology, and IM language of creative assets for emails, social media outlets, websites, and special campaigns using a combination of graphic design, photography, and videography skills.
Writes and supervises vendors to provide content for publications, newsletters (both print and online) and news releases.
- Composes original writing and personally approves digital editing while managing freelance writers to ensure consistent missiology, theology, and IM language usage in publicity, media, campaigns, appeals, copy and content, advertisements, landing pages, brochures, and articles.
- Supervises, manages, and directs staff and vendors on the team to adhere to budget, calendar, and deliverable goals.
- Analysis of marketing and communications activity. Implementing an interactive strategy, reputation management, and relevant analytics reporting. Experienced with direct response marketing and familiar with creating, executing, and refining campaigns using tools and a variety of platforms.
- Participate on task teams or committees within IM or partner organizations as needed.
- Provide support for presentations, maintain photography and media archives.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education, License, Certification
- Minimum bachelor’s degree. Preferably in related fields of marketing, communications, public relations, or journalism. Will consider related work experience in lieu of a degree in a related field.
- Degree or certification in theological or missiological studies, church leadership, or nonprofit management, preferred.
Experience (job-related)
- Minimum 5 years in communications or marketing. Some experience in both disciplines.
- Nonprofit experience in planning, design, and distribution of marketing
- Experience in writing, creative direction, and developing compelling messaging.
- Experience with direct mail segmentation design and strategy
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
- Demonstrated writing and storytelling skills with excellent ability to compose original text through conducting interviews and researching.
- Skilled in managing simultaneous projects, meeting multiple deadlines, and conveying an encouraging and positive attitude throughout the collaborative process. Project Management certification is a plus.
- Ability to guide and direct work with changing ad hoc teams, which are diverse and multicultural. Flexible in a hybrid setting where colleagues travel frequently and reside in multiple time zones.
- Excellent computer skills, including advanced working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications and other publishing software, including but not limited to WordPress and Campaign Monitor. Knowledge of similar web management programs.
- Must be a self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience managing and directing budgeting, and evaluating conversion rates and Returns on Investment (ROI)
