Full-time, Deployed, Salaried Position
The Donor Partnership Director is responsible for cultivating and implementing stewardship and generosity principles in fundraising strategies, building relationships with donors, managing the endowment campaign, and identifying new strategic private sectors to partner with, thereby furthering God’s kingdom through International Ministries’ (IM) work in cross-cultural missions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising plans and strategies to achieve organizational goals to include but not limited to the General (Operational) Fund.
- Lead the development team in identifying, cultivating, and stewarding potential and existing donors, including churches, individuals, corporations, and foundations.
- Oversee and manage fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives, including annual giving, capital campaigns, and grant writing.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including board members, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
- Develop, follow, and ensure adherence to protocol in the acquisition, cultivation, and solicitation of current and potential donors. Continue to enhance and implement stewardship and generosity principles and fundraising initiatives.
- Compile and analyze information about potential contributors, including individuals, churches, corporations, and businesses, to implement a cultivation and solicitation strategy that is data-driven.
- Supervise, mentor, and coach development staff, providing guidance and support to achieve fundraising goals while managing an assigned list of donors, prospects, congregations, and church-related groups to acquire new donors for cultivation and solicitation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and implement effective communication strategies to engage donors and promote the organization’s mission and achieve goals.
- Manage the development budget and ensure responsible use of fundraising resources.
- Serve as an ambassador of the organization. Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders by visiting with pastors and congregations to provide updated materials, answer questions, and fulfill speaking engagements.
- Lead ongoing development meetings, draft an agenda for review in consultation with the Chief Advancement Officer.
- Support global servants and their ministries as requested to aid in their achievement of fundraising goals.
- Support Major Gifts and Estate Planning education and cultivation.
- Interact with American Baptist Foundation as requested in pursuit of increased collaboration between organizations.
- Consult with leadership in donor-related situations as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education, License, Certification
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent experience. Master’s degree a plus.
- Additional related certification(s); CFRE or equivalent, preferred.
Experience (job-related)
Minimum of 5-7 years of development experience with a successful track record of having deepened relationships with existing donors (churches or individuals) while cultivating new relationships, preferably in a faith-based environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
- Evidence of biblical understanding of stewardship and generosity principles and how it relates to fundraising and best practices.
- Passion for IM, global and cross-cultural mission, and the ability to translate that passion into a personal and team-wide pursuit of IM’s goals.
- High degree of integrity and excellent analytical communication demonstrated both written and oral, including the ability to develop and write detailed, organized reports with attention to detail.
- Preferred background in fundraising as a ministry and familiarity with American Baptist Churches.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent writing and presentation skills
- Ability to build and maintain partnerships
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications, CRM, fundraising software, and databases to incorporate evidence-based initiatives.
- Experience in identifying, applying for, and securing grants.
- Experience in successfully leading a planned giving effort for a faith-based organization.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
