Cloud of Witnesses – Celebrating 210th Anniversary of International Ministries
Rev. Dr. Joseph Huse
Chef of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Indianapolis
I am blessed by International Ministries (aka ABFMS) global servant Taku and Katie. I met them at the 1997 World Mission Conference while I was pastor of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Minot, North Dakota. Taku was the Mission Secretary of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council in northeast India. Katie and Taku subsequently visited our church in Minot and we began to develop a friendship and our church adopted them as special interest global servants. When they were invited to be commissioned as IM global servants, they invited me to be their MPT convener. I have served in that capacity since 2008.
God has blessed my ministry through opportunities to travel to India several times as Ben Chan’s Special Assistant and helped establish the North East Christian University (NECU) in Nagaland. Through my six years of service with the Friends of NECU, we have been able to help the university grow and touch many young lives with scholarships so they could realize their God-given potential. I have been able to teach Biblical Stewardship in several training seminars in India and thus impact the growth of pastors’ leadership role. Through fundraising efforts we have been able to raise the support necessary to keep Katie and Taku on the field as they are the only IM global servant from the US left in India. I have had the opportunity to serve on a grants committee to assist aspiring Indian entrepreneurs on their path to fulfill their dreams of independence and further the IM goals to assist economic development in the country. May God continue to bless IM ministries and churches in India!
