My Special Assistant Rob Ely has provided training for Christian youth workers in Northeast India. He attended the National Baptist Youth Leaders’ Summit in Mumbai, India on October 26-29, 2017 with his teammates Rev. Dr. Jeremy Myers from First Baptist Church of Seymour, Indiana, and Eric Seckman from City Souls Ministries, Parkersburg, West Virginia. The conference was well attended by 185 young people including 60 female participants. Rob shared that “The Summit was a joy to attend. I preached in an evening service, Jeremy and Eric conducted a workshop on worship and then all three of us participated in a workshop called, “Emerging Issues Confronting Christian Youth Today.” The same issues confronting students in the US, are issues for our fellow Youth Leaders in India. We discussed identity, distractions and priorities and how to address those issues. The event was great. The facility, GCC Hotel and Club was wonderful. The theme: “Inspire, Initiate, Impact” was derived from I Timothy 4:12. My message from Haggai focused on encouraging the Youth Leaders as they continue to do their ministry. Pastor John Christopher, Centenary Baptist Church was our host.
“Rev. Vivian Fernandes delivered an inspirational message about unity. Ms. Asha Sanchu, Miqlat Ministry from Dimapur also conducted a workshop that was excellent. Pastor Imnatoshi Longkumer, AO Baptist Church, Dimapur led devotions and did an excellent job. I really enjoyed getting to know him. Rev. Samaresh Nayak was the Coordinator of the India Mission Coordination Committee and as always was excellent in all that he did! We loved our experience and believe the trip was worthwhile.”
