Farewell to New Life Center Foundation

Last year from March through August, I took a sabbatical leave. As part of my sabbatical, I spent time in prayer seeking guidance from God about my next season in ministry. After much prayerful consideration and with a touch of sadness in my heart, I have resigned from my ministry assignment at the New Life Center Foundation (NLCF).

With staff of the New Life Center Foundation

It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve alongside our director, Ms. “Bee” Tiemchan Kamonklapachon, and our dedicated team of NLCF staff for 23 years of missionary service. We have shared many life experiences together, and the NLCF has become like family to me. I am also thankful for the NLCF residents, scholarship students, and graduates who have constantly inspired me by their remarkable capacity for courage and resilience despite adversity.

I also want to express my deep gratitude to our NLCF supporters and network partners. NLCF’s transformative work depends on collaborative partnerships. This work is needed now more than ever as global political trends destabilize the region and increase the risk for exploitation and trafficking.  As I leave, I do so trusting that God will continue to provide for and empower the mission of the NLCF. As global servants, our aim is always to support and empower local leadership to continue the work we have started together. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve, and I look forward to maintaining a warm and collegial relationship with NLCF. I have no doubt that the NLCF will continue to flourish by God’s grace under the capable leadership of Ms. Kamonklapachon.

New Ministry Assignment

My new office/art studio at Cornerstone

I am also delighted to announce that I have accepted an invitation for a new ministry assignment as a mental healthcare provider at Cornerstone Counseling Foundation in Chiang Mai.

Cornerstone was founded to serve missionaries and other cross-cultural Christian workers in Asia, and they have now expanded their services to Thai clientele. Due to my fluency in Thai, I have been invited to join the team of providers serving Thai-speaking clients.  My priority is to provide counseling and art therapy for adolescent and adult survivors of trauma, and personnel who work in the high-pressure field of anti-trafficking. I recently completed my orientation, and I look forward to accepting clients in the next few weeks. I will also continue offering workshops and retreats throughout the Chiang Mai community, as I have been doing for the last two decades.

Still Continuing as a Global Servant with International Ministries

This ministry assignment at Cornerstone is a non-compensated position. Cornerstone requests a minimal donation for counseling services which goes to support building, maintenance, and local staffing. But as a clinician, I will not receive a salary for my counseling services. This enables Cornerstone to offer mental health services to those who would not otherwise be able to access these kinds of specialized mental health services. I will continue to serve as a global servant with International Ministries (assigned to Cornerstone).  So even though I am transitioning to a new hosting partner, your mission support will continue to enable me to serve survivors of trauma in Thailand.

Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and financial partnership which fuel the joyful ministry of sharing God’s love in Thailand.
