Vemos que los planes de Dios desde el principio de la Creación siempre han sido estar muy cercano a nosotros/as. El Espíritu Santo está en esta tierra viviendo en cada corazón que sirve a Dios, moviéndonos a hacer Su voluntad. Ese mover del Espíritu lo vemos cada día y damos testimonio de que es real.

Lo vimos mover a compañeros/as de la Red Continental Cristiana por la Paz, Reconpaz, de República Dominicana a abrazar, escuchar y sentir con defensores de la creación en Puerto Rico. Hubo experiencias de amor profundo que nos sacaron lágrimas y nos fortalecieron en fe.

El testimonio de vida de Alexis Mazol en Casa Pueblo y su esposa Tinti q.e.p.d., con su esfuerzo incansable, comprometidos con la vida, la salud y la naturaleza lograron salvar a Puerto Rico de la minería en 1995, de la contaminación y destrucción que eso acarrea. Dios siempre estuvo cercano inspirándoles y fortaleciéndoles. Esa inspiración nos la transmitió cuando nos dijo “Ustedes están haciendo una revolución de amor”.

También nos conmovió el Espíritu cuando llegamos a la comunidad afectada por la planta que quema de carbón para producir energía en Guayama. Se han enfermado por las cenizas tóxicas y las emanaciones de gases con cáncer de riñones y pulmones entre otras. Lo han dicho tantas veces, pero no los escuchan e ignoran sus reclamos.  Como en tantos países las empresas y gobiernos se confabulan y se hacen cómplices afectando la vida y la salud de comunidades, niegan la contaminación para no asumir la responsabilidad. Nos duele su desesperación de saber que el gobierno extendió las operaciones de la planta indefinidamente. Les escuchamos, oramos con ellos/as y seguimos acompañándoles, levantando con ellos/as la voz.

La justicia social y ambiental es una expresión del amor de Dios por toda la creación. Desde el principio, Dios encomendó a la humanidad el cuidado de la tierra y el compromiso de vivir en relaciones justas, donde la dignidad de cada persona y la integridad de la naturaleza sean respetadas.

Los profetas denunciaron la opresión de los pobres y la destrucción de la vida, recordando que la verdadera adoración se manifiesta en la práctica de la justicia. Jesús continuó ese llamado al anunciar buenas noticias a los pobres, liberar a los oprimidos y reconciliar todas las cosas con Dios.

¡Es el espíritu de Dios que mueve a su pueblo a hacer una revolución de amor!

From the very beginning of the Creation, we see that God’s plans, have always been to be very near to us. The Holy Spirit is here with us on earth, in every heart that serves God and moves us to do His will. We witness this movement of the Spirit every day and testify to its reality.

We have seen Him move and inspire members of the Continental Christian Network for Peace (Reconpaz) from the Dominican Republic to embrace, listen to, and empathize with defenders of creation in Puerto Rico. There were experiences of profound love that moved us to tears and strengthened our faith.

The life testimony of Alexis Massol of Casa Pueblo and his late wife Tinti stands as a powerful example; through their tireless efforts and commitment to life, health, and nature, they succeeded in saving Puerto Rico from mining in 1995 and from the pollution and destruction that accompany it. God was always with them, inspiring and strengthening them. He passed that inspiration on to us when he said, “You are carrying out a love revolution”.

We were also deeply moved by the Spirit when we arrived at the community in Guayama, Puerto Rico, affected by the coal-fired power plant. People there have fallen ill—suffering from kidney and lung cancer, among other diseases, due to toxic ash and gas emissions of the plant. They have spoken out time and time again, yet they are unheard, and their complaints are ignored. Similar to many other countries, corporations and governments collude and become complicit, harming the lives and health of communities while denying pollution to avoid assuming responsibility. We are hurt by their despair upon learning that the government has extended the plant’s operations indefinitely. We listen to them, pray with them, and continue to stand by their side, raising our voices together.

Social and environmental justice are expressions of God’s love for all creation. From the very beginning, God entrusted humanity with caring of Earth and the commitment to live in just relationships, where the dignity of every person and the integrity of nature are respected.

The prophets denounced the oppression of the poor and the destruction of life, reminding us that true worship is manifested through the practice of justice. Jesus continued that call by proclaiming good news to the poor, freeing the oppressed, and reconciling all things to God.

It is the Spirit of God that moves His people to carry out a love revolution!
