A New Thing
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland,” Isaiah 43:19. The prophet Isaiah proclaims that God is doing a new thing. Hope is beginning to grow in the most unlikely places. This is also true today. We rejoice that Christ is at work in new ways in Hungary. After years of persecution, Christians now have the opportunity to openly share their faith. Followers of Jesus are joyfully sharing the good news in schools, places of work, and through community outreach.
Christ is doing something new in Debrecen. This summer we started an English Bible study in partnership with our local church. There is a large English speaking population in our city. The ministry is growing and reaching new people every week. In October, we plan to start an outreach ministry at the elementary school where Amanda teaches. We are thankful that several families have expressed interest in learning more about Christianity.
God is doing another new thing through short-term missions. This summer we received two mission teams. We are so thankful for the way God used these teams to deepen ministry to the schools in our community. Many students and teachers were touched by the joyful presence of Christ these teams shared.
Please pray that the door for the gospel will remain open and for people who have not yet received Jesus to open their hearts to Him. Please pray for those who will attend English Bible study, and for the students, families, and staff of the Berettyóújfalu, Svetits, and Talentum schools. Also, please pray for our family as we attend a Hungarian language intensive course this summer.
