Three young adults from the West Virginia Baptist Convention responded to God’s call by going to Mexico and shadowing two global servants, Denise & Juan Aragon, while they served along side indigenous communities. The three young men have traveled the hills, far corners and dirt roads of rural Mexico. Their month long discovery and learning trip is soon coming to an end; but lasting friendships have been established.

Here is an excerpt of Andrew’s reflections:                                                                                                                                                ” It has been a tremendous blessing in so many different ways. We have learned so much just observing the lives of Juan and Denise. This family models Christ in so many ways; namely, they are filled with compassion for all those experiencing injustice and oppression, and all who are poor and ignored by the world. They are patient, they are servants first, and they are incredibly humble. These are only a few ways that they have modeled Christ for the three of us.                                    The people in the indigenous communities have little in our eyes, they are rich in generosity, brotherly and sisterly love, service, humility, and kindness, to name a few things. All of the communities have welcomed the three of us with open arms and have treated us as one of their own, and they treat their own very well. The children are filled with joy and the men and women are filled with the Spirit of Christ. It has been an absolute blessing from above to worship alongside the people of Chiapas. Between the three of us, we have been preaching, teaching, leading worship, playing with kids, trying to communicate the best we can in our broken Spanish with fellow believers in the communities and those we encounter. We serve in any way we are given the chance, and we love it. A lot of long, squished, bumpy car rides down dirt roads, but it has been well worth it to reach the people the roads lead to. We have been blessed!
