My recent time in Maine was filled with meaningful moments and gracious hospitality. My first speaking engagement was with Pastor Gary York and the wonderful congregation at Riverside Baptist Church. It was there that a gentleman placed into my hands a jar of maple syrup—something he had tapped from the trees and carefully boiled down himself. A simple gift, yet deeply profound.

From there, I had the privilege of sharing at Gardiner First Baptist Church with Pastor Ken Smith and his church, followed by preaching at Dunn’s Corner Church with Pastor James Churchill. Each gathering was marked by warmth, attentiveness, and a shared hunger for God’s work in the world.

In the afternoon, I spoke at the Kennebec’s Annual Spring Meeting, reflecting on my ministry as a Global Theological Educator with International Ministries.

Through it all, both Eva and I were so warmly received.

That jar of maple syrup remains with me—not just as a gift, but as a reminder: the work of God is often slow, patient, and deeply transformative. Like sap drawn over time and refined into sweetness, so too is the formation of our lives and ministries.

Thank you, Maine, for your generosity, your spirit, and your witness.

In the coming weeks, I will once again be on the move. On May 24, I depart for Cape Town, South Africa, where I will be speaking at a faculty training session and addressing the chapel at Cape Town Baptist Seminary.

From there, I will travel to Durban, where a full and meaningful schedule awaits. I will be serving Glenwood Community Church through a Deacon and Leadership training, helping engage with leaders for faithful and effective ministry. A significant highlight will be the launch of the inaugural John Rangiah Memorial Mission Conference and banquet.

In addition, I will address a youth gathering and speak at several churches, all with a strong emphasis on discipleship through theological education—forming leaders who are grounded in Scripture, shaped by context, and committed to Christ’s mission in the world.

Thank you for your prayers and your sustained support. Your partnership continues to make this work possible, and I carry your encouragement with me into every place I serve.

I invite you to learn more about my ministry and how to support God’s mission.

In Christ’s Service,

Rodney
