Dear Loved Ones,

Greetings. This Wednesday August 16, was a day off and everything was shut down. It is a national Holliday in the Dominican Republic. It is a Restoration day, a reborn of a country as a free nation.

The president of IBAREDO, the Reverend Ignacio Cruz, picked me up at 7 AM for his/our church in the mountain.  We arrived there shortly after 8. Pastors Benny, the coordinator of the denomination and Luiz were already at work. It was hot and very humid. The three pastors plus Ignacio’s son worked until 3 PM setting rebars and fixing electric conduits before they could pour in cement concrete.

Since I could not join them on the roof because my knees could not bend to climb a pick ladder, I was to give them tools needed and to pick up garbage.

We came back tired but very happy for what God let us accomplish for that day.

Dear Supporters,

This is work on the newly purchased land for a retreat/youth center mentioned in the last journal.  As you can see Pastors in the DR don’t mind getting their hands dirty, something that is rare in Haiti.  Nzunga and Kihomi are excited by the way the people of the DR have accepted them and already have ideas how they can have a ministry there.  Keep Praying.
