Spring has sprung here in sunny Téglás. The fruit trees, azaleas and tulips are blooming, the days are getting longer and gradually warmer.

We celebrated Easter simply together as a family, going to church and enjoying homemade treats from friends. The girls are still young enough for Easter baskets (who outgrows chocolate?). Our spring break lasts through Tuesday, and we plan on going to a nearby zoo, one of the biggest in Europe.

And in the sunshine and flowers it’s almost easy to forget that there’s a war going on next door, until we wake up to news that the western Ukrainian city of Lviv, 230 miles from here, was struck by at least 4 missiles this morning.

Some Ukrainian refugees in Hungary had started returning to Ukraine, and Lviv was considered a safe haven far away from the heat of the battles in the east and south.

This is a difficult time for us, being so close to war. Thank you so much for your outpouring of prayers and support. We are working with our church and with the Hungarian Baptists to support the Ukrainian refugees.

Larry’s ministry in Serbia also continues. He went last weekend to celebrate the completion of the renovation of the outside of the church and to buy supplies for the church to distribute Easter packages, gifts of hygiene items and food, made possible by your generous donations.

He was even able to meet and share resources with a baptist partner who is still working with MENA refugees (Middle East and North Africa).
