Promoting Korea Trip
I was invited to share my 2018 Korea trip experience in the Korean Pastors and Families Annual Worship and Gathering of the American Baptist Churches of New Jersey (ABCNJ) through Zoom on December 13. The event was organized by Rev. Hojin Yu, Associate Regional Pastor for Asian Ministries of ABCNJ. I also extended the invitation of the 2021 Korea trip (tentatively in August) to the participants. There will be an adult team and a youth team going. Hojin, who is also my Special Assistant, and his daughter Sharon, who is my Student Assistant, are organizing the trip with me.
GBC and IM Consultation Meeting
I took part in the consultation meeting of the Garo Baptist Convention (GBC) and International Ministries. GBC General Secretary Rev. Janang R. Sangma shared that the Convention has 18 associations, 2,585 congregations and 336,000 baptized members. GBC runs the Harding Theological College (HTC) and the Tura Christian Hospital (TCH). HTC has 14 full time faculty members and currently provides BD program to 60 students. The College has also started a D. Min. Program and plans to start a M.Th. Program in 2021. TCH, a 74 beds hospital, is the oldest hospital in NE India established by American Baptist missionaries in 1907. The government has recruited TCH to receive COVID patients and provide testing, but the infected patients will be sent to the government hospitals to receive treatment. GBC has provided relief assistance to villages and 900 households.
