Micah 6:8 says “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly  with your God.”

We hear this scripture being quoted often in times of trouble, famine, uprising, natural disaster, injustices. We often have mission teams undergird their hands and feet with that same scripture. In a recent sermon, the prophetic pastor and theologian of our times, Rev. Dr. Zina Jacque, proclaimed that we ought to dare to reverse the order of acting justly, loving mercy and humility to start first with humility. In other words, to “walk humbly with God, act justly and love mercy.” Can we do that as people of faith called to be God’s ambassadors of mercy, hope, and love in cross-cultural settings? As Christ-followers, may we never cease to recognize our creator’s hand who is constantly molding us to be better in the world, to walk humbly besides others lifting up dignity of the human race. May our presence shine God’s light in all the dark places!

God’s servants walk on humble bridges connecting two worlds; the known to the unknown, the comfort to the challenge, the routine to the flexible, the heart to the hands, God’s call to God’s people, the hurting stranger to the Samaritan.

God is calling all of us to pray and act.
