Becky Rae Trask went safely home to be with Jesus, on June 10, 2020 in Pickerington, Ohio after a long illness. She was 69 years old.

Becky was born on July 17, 1950 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She was reared in a family with loving parents, Ray and Ruby Zimmerman, and three sisters. They were close and did many things together as a family. Becky was baptized as an infant in the Methodist Church. After the eighth grade Becky stopped attending. Becky wrote: “I lacked a personal commitment in my faith pilgrimage and was not to find it until the end of my college education.”

During the school years, Becky was very active in extracurricular activities and committed to 4-H Club. She enjoyed school and developed a sense of commitment to service of others. She loved the outdoors.

Becky studied at Northern State College and Oklahoma State University earning a Bachelor of Science in physical education and health. She went on to teach elementary and junior high physical education in Middleton, Idaho.

During her senior year in college, Becky was led to a small devotional group where for the first time she heard that Jesus Christ came to save each person personally. It was that night that Becky accepted Christ as her personal Savior. Many struggles followed, but she was able to face them and deal with them each day as her Christian faith grew stronger. In 1973, two years after accepting Christ, Becky was baptized by immersion by Rev. Leo Reed at the First Baptist Church in Nampa, Idaho. In Nampa, she received a strong and loving Christian nurturing. She taught elementary and adult Sunday school, vacation church school, and was also active in American Baptist Women (ABW) and choir.

In 1980, Becky entered Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas not knowing where this might lead. Three people at Central Baptist Theological Seminary made a strong impact on Becky as she sought to discern her call for foreign missions; they were Rev. Dick Worley, Dr. Hatch and Dr. Fulop. They encouraged her to apply to the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society (ABFMS), now known today as International Ministries (IM). On June 21, 1983 Becky was appointed by the ABFMS designated to serve in Hong Kong and was commissioned at Green Lake on July 31, 1983.  Becky was ordained at the First Baptist Church of Nampa on August 14, 1983.

Becky and young son, Ace, moved to Hong Kong in September 1983. In September 1997, Becky resigned from service with the ABFMS, however she continued ministry in Hong Kong for about another 16 years before moving to the US. During her time of service Becky helped to start the Celebrate Life Baptist Church in Hong Kong, now an active close partner of IM. Becky devoted her life to sharing Jesus’ love with others.

She was a prayer warrior who lived an unselfish life to serve others. Her son, Ace, thanks God for her legacy and describes her as a “little lady from Oklahoma who answered the call of Jesus to serve the world, and through her, thousands of people made Jesus their Savior.”

Preceded in death by her husband, Ronald in 1980, Becky is survived by her son, Ace (Rebecca) Trask; grandchildren, Daniel, Nathan, and Elia Trask; and her siblings, Gayle Long, Datha Zimmerman and Amy Backlas.

Because of the global pandemic, a Memorial Service and Celebration of Becky’s life will be planned for a later date when it possible for family and friends to travel and gather safely.   The hope is to hold the celebration in Hong Kong.
