Con Jesús en el camino…

Durante el mes de mayo viajamos para compartir en el sur de España acerca de nuestros materiales para encuentros de discipulado: “Discípulos del Camino–Con Jesús en el camino” que ya cuentan con dos niveles de los tres que tenemos en ciernes. Este mes de junio haremos lo mismo, pero en el norte de España. Así ha sido esta parte de la jornada…

La Unión Evangélica Bautista de España (UEBE), con el aval de la Facultad de Teología de la UEBE (FT-UEBE), nos invitó a compartir nuestra experiencia y materiales de discipulado con iglesias nuevas del esfuerzo del Ministerio de Evangelismo y Misiones (MEM). Se han propuesto plantar 15 iglesias en ciudades y provincias donde no tienen presencia. Desde que comenzaron y hasta el 2030 encaminarán sus esfuerzos en Extremadura (Cáceres), Castilla y León (León, Zamora, Salamanca, Palencia, Segovia, Burgos, Soria), Castilla la Mancha (Ciudad Real y Cuenca), País Vasco (Guipúzcoa-San Sebastián), Galicia (Lugo), Baleares (Palma de Mallorca) y Aragón (Huesca y Teruel). De todas estas, la de Cáceres es la más avanzada y uno de los lugares donde pudimos compartir un fin de semana completo.

David y Natzumy nos recibieron cariñosamente junto a sus hijas y además de conocer su ministerio en Cáceres, tuvimos la oportunidad de acompañarles en Trujillo, Mérida y Don Benito. Aprovechamos muy bien el tiempo y les dejamos el material para que lo comiencen a compartir en sus lugares; como hemos hecho en cada lugar. Oremos por este esfuerzo en Extremadura pues no solo hay necesidad en los lugares mencionados sino también en las tres torres (Torreorgaz, Torrequemada y Torremocha). La mies sigue siendo mucha y los obreros y las obreras escasean… Que Dios bendiga a David y Natzumy en todo su quehacer.

El fin de semana anterior estuvimos en Lorca. Nos recibieron Emilio y Sol. Recordarán que, en noviembre pasado, llegamos a tiempo para la encomendación pastoral de Emilio (quien fue uno de nuestros alumnos cuando enseñamos en Dènia del 2010 al 2012). Un buen número de personas de la PIEB Lorca se unieron al encuentro y también a la experiencia dominical. Después de Extremadura fuimos entre semana a Valencia y a Almussafes. Ester y Jonás nos recibieron y hospedaron. Compartimos un encuentro de discipulado y visitamos personas muy queridas. Ester dirige las misiones internacionales de la UEBE. Luego llegamos a Águilas donde Emerson y Sara. Allí la experiencia del viernes al lunes fue extraordinaria y enriquecedora. Julio y Dámaris estaban en Almería, pero en Calabardina nos reunimos con ellos y las familias pastorales (menos las de Extremadura y Valencia) para tener un tiempo hermoso de koinonía. También nos acompañó el hijo de Emerson y Sara. Esa semana adicional en Águilas (cuyas bahías parecen un águila con sus alas extendidas), nos dieron oportunidad de compartir con más personas.

De Águilas seguimos hacia Ibi donde nos esperaban Gilabert y Victoria y nos hospedaron Diego y Sandra. Del viernes al lunes, compartimos con la adolescencia, la juventud y la congregación en pleno. El ministerio de Gilabert (quien también estuvo en Dènia), es uno sólido y siempre abierto a crecer a través del discipulado. La sorpresa fue poder ir a Alcoi, la iglesia donde perseveran Santi y Lucía. Santi (otro de los nuestros en Dènia) es diácono y discipulador además de los roles que él y su esposa ejercen en la región sureste, a nivel nacional e internacional. Tras un hermoso culto de bautismos, nos pusimos al día en las conversaciones que siempre son alentadoras.

Intensa jornada en el sur y ahora nos espera el norte de España: Calahorra, Mungía, San Sebastián-Donostia y Miranda de Ebro. Gracias por sus ofrendas para desplazarnos a servir. Siempre necesitamos ese apoyo continuo para llegar a más lugares. Seguimos con Jesús en el camino, solo deteniéndonos para predicar y hacer discípulos en todas las naciones. Así completaremos este aniversario de plata el 30 de junio y comenzamos el #26 el 1ro de julio… Gracias, Dios y familia de sus BGs…

With Jesus on the way….

Throughout May, we traveled to share in the South of Spain about our materials for discipleship encounters: “Disciples of the Way–With Jesus on the way.” We already have two out of the three levels we have planned. This month of June, we will do the same, but in the North of Spain. This is how this part of the journey has been…

The Baptist Evangelical Union of Spain (UEBE, for their name in Spanish), with the endorsement of the Faculty of Theology of the UEBE (FT-UEBE), invited us to share our experience and discipleship materials with the new churches planted by the efforts of their Evangelism and Missions Ministry (MEM). They are planting 15 churches in cities and provinces where they are not present. Since they began and until 2030, their efforts are in Extremadura (Cáceres), Castilla & León (León, Zamora, Salamanca, Palencia, Segovia, Burgos, and Soria), Castilla la Mancha (Ciudad Real and Cuenca), Basque Country (Guipúzcoa-San Sebastián), Galicia (Lugo), Baleares (Palma de Mallorca), and Aragón (Huesca and Teruel). Of those, Cáceres is well advanced and one of the places we were able to share for a whole weekend.

David and Natzumy welcomed us with their daughters, and we learned beyond their ministry in Cáceres, as we went with them to Trujillo, Mérida, and Don Benito. We managed time well and left our materials for them to start using it in their churches; as we did everywhere we went. Let us pray for this effort in Extremadura as there are needs beyond the places mentioned into the three towers (torre means towers–Torreorgaz, Torrequemada and Torremocha). The harvest continues to be plentiful, yet the workers continue to be few… May God bless David and Natzumy in everything they do.

The weekend prior to Extremadura, we went to Lorca. Emilio and Sol hosted us. You may remember, last November we arrived just on time for Emilio’s pastoral installation (and he was one of our students in Dènia between 2010 and 2012). A good number of Lorca’s church attended the encounter and the Sunday school and service. After Extremadura we went Tuesday to Thursday to Valencia and Almussafes. Ester and Jonás hosted us. We shared a discipleship encounter and visited people we love. Ester is the national director of UEBE’s international missions. Then on Friday we arrived to Águilas where Emerson and Sara received us. The experience from Friday to Monday was wonderful and encouraging. Julio and Dámaris were in Almería, but we got together in Calabardina with them and the other pastoral families (except those in Extremadura and Valencia) to enjoy a beautiful time of koinonía. Emerson and Sara’s son also joined us. That extra week in Águilas (the two bays resemble an eagle’s extended wings), gave us opportunities to share with others.

From Águilas we continued to Ibi where Gilabert and Victoria awaited and Diego and Sandra hosted us. From Friday to Monday, we shared with adolescents, youth, and the congregation at large. Gilabert’s ministry (also with us in Dènia), is solid and always open to grow through discipleship. The surprise was going to Alcoi, to the church where Santi and Lucía persevere. Santi (another of ours in Dènia) is a deacon and disciple-maker besides the roles that he and his wife have in their Southeastern region, nationally, and internationally. After a beautify baptism service, we caught up in conversations that are always appreciated.

Intense journey in May in the South and the North of Spain comes next: Calahorra, Mungía, San Sebastián-Donostia, and Miranda de Ebro. Thanks for your financial support, as we continue traveling to serve. There is always need for this ongoing support to get to more places. It is time to be with Jesus on the way without stopping, except to preach and make disciples of all nations. Thus, we complete our silver anniversary on June 30th and begin year #26 on July 1st… Thank you, Jesus, regions, associations, churches, and beloved siblings!
