Bonilla-Giovanetti family 2016
Carlos and Mayra are working with the Baptist Theological Seminary in Nicaragua, accompanying them in the program of informal theological education in the churches of the Baptist Convention of Nicaragua and as writers of curriculum material for the Seminary.
They write: February: This month, like each year, we celebrate LOVE in its many expressions. We rejoice in evident proofs of AGAPE in our missionary service. Many churches have stretched forward reaching goals to meet the needs of others (in San Carlos and San Bernardo, Chile; Lorca, Spain; and San Marcos, Nicaragua).
We are grateful to the churches that support the growth, maturity, and construction of the Jehová Yiré Baptist Church in San Marcos, Nicaragua. This 5-year-old church, has grown from 13 members to now more than 70. Their family festivals have surpassed attendance of 100. They continue to have VBS and street children events 4-6 times a year with 250-300 children in attendance.
This church started in an empty dirt lot. Now they have a nearly completed sanctuary. Many from West Virginia, California, Indiana, New Jersey, New York, and (in 2016) Montana offered resources and came to make it happen. Nicaraguans and short-term mission teams (STMTs) worked hand in hand toward reaching the goal of this construction. Meanwhile, Jehová Yiré and the STMTs keep investing themselves in evangelism, discipleship, and service where the Good News is shared.
Since our February 2016 journal, lots happened, while there is always something else pending. The LOVE of our siblings from FBC Billings, Montana, moved them to come and prepare the concrete floor and the baptistry. They also provided and worked on the annex wall and roof where Pastor Rodolfo dreams of having the pending infrastructure for the Children’s Center (office, kitchen, and WC). To apply to and receive funds for daily tutoring, meals, and school supplies, these facilities are still needed. The LOVE of our siblings from NextGen, New Jersey, provided for the concrete floor and the projector. The LOVE of our siblings from Lubeck CBC, West Virginia, provided for the electrical wiring, the lights, and the fans. When their STMT arrives this year, for the 5th time in a row, it will be their first without Juan Aragón (now a dear fellow global servant to Chiapas with his family) or us present. Yet, that is what becoming family is all about!!! It isn’t about the construction of the building but rather the building of this LOVING family regardless of location! The construction has been a means to serve together. Pending: tile floor, plus partitions and equipment in the annex.
American Baptist Churches in the USA and Puerto Rico, would you please pray for and invest in completing the annex facilities, getting Jehová Yiré closer to their service goals in San Marcos? Please give OUT OF LOVE and send your gift WITH LOVE (“You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. ‘For God loves a person who gives cheerfully’.” 2 Cor. 9.7 NLT) Let us know if you’d like to go to San Marcos. We’d be happy to coordinate your STMT.
