Installing Solar Panels
Psalm 37:3 - Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.
What started out as a dream in 2007 or 2008 has finally become reality. All we can do is praise the Lord for His faithfulness and for His favor in accomplishing this great work. Last October a team from The Summit Church in Boise, ID came out to complete the Power Phase of the Kikongo Internet Project. It took a lot of preparation and logistics to get the parts and the people in the same place at the same time. Jill did a lot of planning to make sure we had food, transportation and lodging for the team. Once the Boise group got going on the project, there was no holding them back.
The "Outside Team" were able to build frames, install panels and feed down line. The "Inside Team" worked on all the connections needed for lightning protection and over and under charge of the batteries. They installed and connected the batteries and set up a power converter to power the VSAT and the wireless connections necessary to provide Internet connections to the Pastor's Institute. It's a miracle of God's grace.
Our thanks to International Ministries for providing the initial funds for purchasing the satellite equipment. Thanks also to The Summit Church for taking on the solar portion of the project and for sending a team to install the equipment.
The next phase of this project will be to teach people who have never used a computer how to best use the Internet. Is there a a volunteer or two out there that would like to come to Congo and do that? That would be awesome!
Please pray for this new technology in Kikongo. Pray that we will find ways to use it to advance the Kingdom of God. Pray for protection, peace and provision.
Below are a few pictures that will give you a much better idea of the scope of this project.
