This is very much the mindset of the Mitendi Leadership team.

A few weeks ago, when I first visited Mitendi Women's Center, I found out just how serious they are about getting things done. The staff mentioned that they had worked on the wall a bit last year while I was in the U.S. on home assignment. I asked how much, and they said, “Oh, you'll see when we get there.” I assumed they completed a few yards of the wall.

You can imagine my surprise when I found they have completed nearly the entire stretch that runs parallel to the road. That is almost ¼ of the wall project! I asked how in the world they accomplished this!!

They said, “We couldn't just sit back and wait for you to get here (and lose the property in the meantime). We had to do something.” So they sent out requests to several Baptist churches in Kinshasa and asked each one to sponsor one or two panels of the wall. Some donated money, some sent bricks and cement, others sent people to help.

I still don't understand how they did it, but I pray the rest of the wall project has equally miraculous results!

Please keep praying for this project. We're still raising funds and are a little more than half way in reaching our financial goal.

Please keep Congo in your prayers, especially this week. Kinshasa, where we are, is calm, but the war in the eastern side of Congo has reignited with a vengeance. We need God to intervene for peace in Congo.

Thank you for all your support.

God's blessings,
