Damage at the UBL library
Greetings. Just a quick note to let
you know that we are fine. This morning we had a 7.6 earthquake, centered in
Guanacaste on the north Pacific coast. It was the second largest ever in Costa
Rica and certainly the strongest one I've experienced. For those who have never
felt the earth shaking under your feet, I assure you that it's an eirie
feeling. The University (UBL) has experienced no damage, although the library
staff will be busy for many days picking up and restocking books that fell off
shelves. Damage throughout the country has thankfully been minimal and the
tsunami warning withdrawn.
Thank you to all those who have written with concern and prayers.
