This month, May, Taku & I have reached the milestone of having raised sufficient support to be appointed as IM Development Workers to North East India.  This means that we are no longer volunteers, thus enabling Taku to bring his ministry as Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Farmington to a close.  He celebrated his final Sunday as Pastor on May 15th by baptizing four of our youth.  I was still in Indiana so I missed that emotional service, but heard it was special.   From this point onward we both will be able to focus our energy and effort toward raising the final percentages of support yet lacking and make preparations for departure to India in October.

We have traveled many miles over these past several months to reach this milestone!  Since our endorsement last April, we have been able to personally share the exciting ministry God is calling us to in dozens of churches, AB Women's Ministries meetings and other gatherings in eight states, from Wisconsin to Arizona, the Dakotas, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana & Missouri.  Katie was privileged to visit nearly all our American Baptist churches in North Dakota in October of last year, then in April she traversed nearly 1400 miles crossing the width and breadth of South Dakota in two weeks of meetings.  (We look forward to one more visit to the Dakotas in September before we depart.)

During just the initial two weeks of this month, through the wonderful efforts of our MPT (Missionary Partnership Team) Convener, Rev. Dr. Joseph Huse, we’ve been involved in nearly twenty events, enjoying the scenic fields & hills while criss-crossing 2900 miles on the road.

Though a bit road-weary, we are blessed to have had the opportunity to meet so many who are coming alongside as partners. Our travels and speaking engagements continue as we head back to Indiana & Ohio this weekend.  Check our schedule to see if we’ll be in your area.  We would love to see you as we travel through and are always eager to share the news of God’s work in North East India and our vision.

We are excited to see how God is bringing details together and anticipate reaching our full amount of support necessary to enable our commissioning Sunday, August 21st at Central Baptist Church in Springfield, IL.  This is going to be a powerful service of dedication and commissioning of our MPT & ourselves in ministry.  All are welcome to come take part in this meaningful service.

We are grateful to God and all of you who are partnering with us in this amazing journey of service!

God Bless!

Katie & Taku
