International Ministries

Greetings from Yunnan, China

November 2, 2010 Journal
There are 20 members in our Yunnan team, who come from within China, Hong Kong, Europe and the US.  Rev. Dr. Reid Trulson, Rev. Dr. Jenny Quey, Alice Hau and I (Rev. Ben Chan) arrived safely at Kunming, capital city of Yunnan Province. We had dinner with Rev. Wenliang Yu, President of TSPM, and visited his office after.

We are excited to learn about how the ethnic minorities have responded positively to the Gospel. The International Trinity Church in Kunming has three Sunday services, which are attended by 3,000 people. Another church which is an hour from the International Trinity Church has similar number of Sunday attendants.

Rev. Yu shared that all 24 ethnic minorities have the Bible of their language, though some are not of complete Bible. The Yunnan Christian Council has been working on the Bible translation for ethnic minorities. They celebrated the completion of the Mia Bible and hymn last year, and will finish the one for Eastern Lisu this year.

We will visit projects of the Amity Foundation tomorrow including a church-based drug addicts rehab center that American Baptist International Ministries sponsors. Please pray for our trip.
