Dear Friends in Christ,

Communication in Zambia is largely through cell phone text messaging, which is the least expensive and most widely available to the largest number of people.  Ministry is done, business is conducted, transactions are made and lives are saved.

The text message she sent read word for word, “Sarah I’m being tempted 2 abort please send me scrpt on how God feel about abortion.”  (sic)

Immediately, I called back to remind her of the intensive bible study we had done on the “Purpose Driven Life”.  I reminded her of  scriptures we had poured over in the past two years and how we all came to the realization and understanding  that we are all “fearfully and wonderfully made”, even if we are poor, the floors are made of dirt and there is uncertainty as to where the next meal is coming from.  I reminded her that we are all children of God and that this baby being “knitted in her womb” was no surprise to God.

The very next day I received another text message from her saying “Sarah thx 4 the encouragement n the advice. Ive read in Psalms,  Jeremh n Ezekiel.  Im  encouraged  n will continue reading.  Hav a blessed day”. (sic)

Over the past three years in Zambia your partnership and giving has provided for evangelism outreach, bible studies, spiritual formation workshops for incoming leaders of our Baptist Convention of Zambia (BCZ) churches, marriage seminars, youth and education ministries, theological training for pastors and baptisms in abundance.  Your gifts and prayers have saved lives by providing mielie meal (staple food) and vegetables bringing many back from the brink of death.  Your gifts have educated many orphans and vulnerable children, as well as clothed them against the winter weather, and provided school uniforms.  You provided care, visitations and blankets for terminally ill patients, allowing them to die with a greater measure of dignity and comfort.   You’ve given health and hygiene kits as well as helped  to plant gardens for projects to help our Zambian  brothers and sisters increase their nutritional status and become self sustainable.

There are many more stories to tell of how God is moving around the world, particularly in Zambia, of how your gifts and your seeds planted have come to fruit.

In this season of gift giving, our gift to you is to remind you of the souls and lives saved because you support us on the field, of the lives changed and the difference you have made in the country of Zambia.  Only with your prayers and continued financial support, can we be the present reminder  of the “good news of great joy that will be for all the people” and proclaim “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to mankind” and continue to literally be the feet, mouth, hands and heart of God, present with our brothers and sisters in Zambia.

During this Christmas season, continue to stir up the gift of giving that has been placed in you.  Your gifts make a difference in many lives not just for the moment, but for eternity.

As this year draws to a close, as families come together to celebrate the birth of Christ, please keep us in your prayers as we pray for you and the comforting presence and leading of the Holy Spirit in all our lives.

Have a Blessed and wonderful Christmas!

In His Service,

Charles and Sarah West
