This weekend had to have been one of the most incredible weekends of my life! Surrounded by family and friends I was ordained to the Christian ministry by First Baptist Church McMinnville, Oregon and American Baptist Churches of Oregon, and was commissioned to serve in El Salvador with International Ministries. And, as if that weren't enough reason to celebrate, I had the honor of  performing my first baptism, baptizing my sister Laura! (more on that later)

Highlights from the celebration on Sat. included an artistic dowel rod presentation by the kids at FBC. The kids created a presentation to go with the song "Go Light Your World". Gary, Mylinda, and Micah Baits, IM missionaries in Costa Rica had a tough act to follow but as we have learned to expect, the Baits offered a funny, challenging, artistic, and beautifully symbolic charge to both myself and the congregation.

When all the vows had been made and all of the litanies were read, IM Board member Sharon Gober made the commissioning official while Steve Bils and Margaret Marcuson represented American Baptist Churches of Oregon making the final recommendation for ordination to FBC McMinnville.

Among all of the special guests it was a special honor to have Dr. Marian Boehr, retired missionary to India, and Anna Wiegner who traveled the farthest (from Philadelphia) for the celebration.

Now, the party is over, I am now a "Reverend", and my feet are beginning to tap as we finalize details and set departure dates to follow my heart and God's call to El Salvador.

Peace on the journey.
