We are here to serve you and your short term mission team. From obtaining the
free travel accident insurance to "friend raising" and finding
support, from navigating the strange and wonderful world of passports, visas,
and immunizations to cross cultural orientation training weekends - we are
delighted to help. Clicking here will
take you to a page full of downloadable hints and helps as you prepare your
team.
FOR
INDIVIDUALS
There are many opportunities available. Check out Get Involved for the
latest in volunteer and career opportunities. If you don't see anything that is
really grabbing you, contact us at Volunteers for Global Mission (VIGM) -
contact information below. If you know where or when you want to serve, we'll
get you going on the next steps in the process!
There are a few steps in
this journey. The first is to email or call the Volunteers in Global Mission
team to talk about possibilities. If you have already spoken to them, or to a
missionary or partner and know you want to continue with the application
process.
"INDIVIDUAL" section. Download the Application for
Individual Missionary Service. Read it thoroughly, fill it out, sign it, and send it back
to us. The background consent form MUST be signed.
Download the Individual Volunteer Reference Form. Give this to three people, one should be your pastor and the other two should be people who know you well, but not a relative. At least one should be related to the field you are applying to volunteer in.
Download the Volunteer Missionary Handbook. Read it. Find the page that you need to sign and send it back to us... after you have read the handbook.
Next Step:
Once
we have received your application, your three references, your background
check, and have confirmed a place of service, you'll need to complete the
following:

the Medical
Release/Emergency Contact Form. Meet with your physician and have
him/her fill it out with you and sign it.
Download
the Volunteer Request and
Release and the Health Risks and Responsibilities Forms. Fill them
out, sign them and send them back to us.
If
you are under 21, download the Volunteer
Travel Authorization Form for Minors. This form is for minors
traveling with one or no parents. It must be notarized.
Insurance:
International
Ministries will provide you with free travel accident insurance while you are
volunteering. Download the Travel Insurance Summary for more information. Some
countries are rated higher risk and there may be a premium based on location,
risk level, and length of service time.
